I work for www.dirtworks.net – a company that sells REALLY Green stuff. Actually I telecommute – that’s a nice way to be both in VT and in the city without putting in the miles.

None of those Compact Florescent Bulbs for us man – we live in a solar house in Vermont and don’t even have to heat with wood except on really really cold dark days.

We sell environmentally positive products like organic gardening supplies, natural and organic pest control products, biodegradable non-plastic “plastic bags” and ecological firewood made from compressed sawdust that burn hotter, longer and cleaner than regular wood. Plus we have lots of fun stuff like natural soaps, cleaners and cosmetics made in New England – we even have especially good stuff for pets!

PS: And yes we use CFBs – but we’d rather be using lighbulb grade LED’s in all our lighting fixtures. The reason we don’t like CFBs too much is 1. they are all made in China, and 2. there is no widespread system in place to recycle them and 3. they add mercury to the waste stream and we already have enough mercury in our air, soil and water thank you!

PPS: about me – I am trained as an ecologist and am very happy to be able to contribute to my chosen field of interest – and while I am none-too-happy about how we’ve gotten here, we are here and thing are only going to get worse before they get better.
