I live in Washington, DC and learned about carbon rally through my dear friend Shera who I have known since high school. I am a new mom and like to think that I try to do my part to make the earth a little greener. I been recycling for years way before DC had curbside recycling, used my own bags at the grocery store, and used to bike as my mode of transportation (back when gas was cheap!). I am lucky that I still do not use my car during the week at all and commute by metro to work—I’m fortunate that I have that option. I have recently been inspired to get back on my bike since I have seen more and more people commuting by that mode recently. DC is also becoming more of a bike friendly city (sort of, a cyclist got killed last week) with added bike lanes and a bike share program. Hopefully, this trend will continue and we can be the change we want to see in the world.
