Great one!

Frozen foods take 10 times more energy to produce than fresh foods. So Buy Fresh!

Tastes better and is good for the environment. Sounds like a great challenge!

Better for you and the environment.

I love this idea! I try to eat fresh food as much as possible. On top of being better for the environment it also tastes better and is MUCH healthier!

Yeah, it takes energy to freeze, but it doesn't taste good if its fresh from across the country, it spoils by the time it gets to you unless it's frozen! Unless of course it's grown locally.....

I totally agree; moreover I also suggest to buy only seasonal fruits and vegetables!

We do need more food challenges, Jason. By the way, fresh food isn't just better for the environment - it's waaay healthier. Even organic frozen food is still not that healthy. It loses a lot of its nutrients being cooked and recooked. Not to mention, most frozen food isn't organic and has tons of weird chemicals and preservatives in it.

I think this idea is great. Some local farmers will sell you boxes of fresh vegetables. You may end up paying just a little more but there are large portions so I suggest splitting the box with another person or family. You can split the price(save money) and you don't waste vegetables because three is too much for you or your family.

I love going to the farmers market

i always go to the farmers market for local produce. the food doesn't have to travel as far so it's good for the enviroment, and it's good for the local economy.

if you have to freeze things like fruit or veggies (like i do, living in Canada so there's not much to buy local in the winter) then buy them fresh and local in the summer, and freeze them yourself. You wont be able to use them for all purposes but great for smoothies etc. Alternatively, there are some things that can be grown inside during the winter.
