When you are at the counter to pay and the person is packing your new stuff, monitor the packaging and give direction to have less packaging involved.

You can ask:

- Can you put everything in one bag only please?
- Do you have something smaller than this plastic box, just a paper wrap will be perfect.
- Can you please use my container (food to go)
- I don't need plastic silverware...
