Turn off the water while you brush your teeth or shave.

Great one!

Leaving the water running while you complete hygienic activities causes energy to go down the drain. Your local government uses a fair amount of energy for water treatment to make the water safe, so don't waste their efforts. If you brush with the water full blast, try at least to reduce the flow. Wean yourself off of it by reducing the flow more and more.
