There was a really great question posed by one of the students in the “Sustainable Futures” class in Reykjavik. The fact is that most of the aspects of reducing energy consumption proposed in the “Challenges” section of the website are simply not applicable to Iceland, where the energy source is usually far lower in carbon emissions (hydroelectricy, geothermal). So we need to think a bit differently about our challenges. The biggest positive impact will likely be reducing consumption of goods produced with fossil fuels (the energy that is embodied in goods from abroad most likely). So let’s think of ideas on how to reduce consumption in a challenge!
