Hi. I found that there are several community gardens in Somerville where you can plant vegetables. The one near our house is called “Durrell Garden” and my son and I are planting some stuff there. We’ve met some great folks from the neighborhood there too. They still have some spaces for kids to participate. More info is here

Hi Birdman, I was looking at your question about dimming cfl’s. As of right now, I was informed they should not be dimmed. It will shorten your bulb life. On most packages, it will say they should not be dimmed. Just an fyi for you. Joanie

Hi, here’s a local Holiday light tip from summervillain ....

For those in the Boston area, we found “Celebration” LED holiday lights at Tags/Ace Hardware. Last night we hung a 9ft, 100 light “Icicle” style strand with built-in dangles (~$25). I was worried that the white lights might be a little harsh and over-bright, but in fact they had a mild bluish tint and if anything were less bright than white incandenscent bulbs.
